Isn’t this the CUTEST??

I saw this picture and immediately thought that I’d really LOVE to have one of these.  Who wouldn’t have a great trip in a cutie like this.

I got this off a site somewhere….I have a sneaking suspicion that it belongs to a photographer…a pro.  It’s too well lit to be a random pic.  If any of you know who, I will be happy to give credit.    But this is so ME!  Christmas is in a few days…. oh, SAaaaNnnnTttAaaa.  :)

The Best Small-Town Christmas Parade

Our town hosts a great Christmas Parade each year.  Everyone really gets into the spirit of it all…..clapping, smiling, singing, and cheering the kids on.  This year was no exception… it was cold, but spirits were high.  The camels were even back to entertain us this year.

There are two versions of the show.  The Long Show has LOTs more pictures, but you need about 15minutes to watch it.  If you are strapped for time, check out the Short Show.  Either way, I hope you enjoy our little town parade.  :)

Please excuse our technical difficulties…

I haven’t been able to post the link to our Christmas Parade due to a broken path of some sort on my servers.  I am working on it, but it limits me to posting text only until I get the chance to find and fix the path.  So Christmas parade viewers, take heart….they are wonderful and will be up soon!

Until then, enjoy this cute video short (commercial?) from JC Penney. A friend sent me the link and it’s well done.  Funny!

Christmas Parade Pictures are Almost Done

Check back, they are processing now, but I have to run to a Christmas get-together so I can’t wait to post up the link.  They are worth it!  I think we have the BEST small-town Christmas parade in the nation.  Everyone -adults included- get excited and have so much fun.

And the camels were back this year.  They are always so funny!

Have a safe, happy weekend!

Some fun in the Sun….Surf

While in Charleston, I had a blast taking pictures of these two - braving the gale force winds to get in a little board action.  It was fun to be in the water taking pics….wish I’d come prepared and was in a suit….then I could have gotten some better angles.  But we made do.  Hope you like them.  I swear in some of the shots it looked like they were dancing….

Neat bags

The folks over at affinitybag.com did a great job on these cute bags.  We thought it would be a good idea to give the kids watching the parade somewhere to put all the candy lobbed at them during our annual Highlands Christmas Parade. (And our Girl Scout troop thought it important to remind everyone to be safe. :)  This is a true small-town Christmas parade…it’s always well attended and everyone just has a good time.  Hopefully I will have some pictures to post soon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey day to you all.  I hope that everyone enjoys a day off to spend with friends and family.  And since this holiday is all about good food, this is a great time to share pictures of this year’s Highlands Culinary Event.  This event is sponsored by the Highlands Visitors Center and is really a wonderful way to sample a bit of all our award-winning restaurants — and the wines to go along with the food.

So, let’s see, there are great dishes to try, great wines to taste, an awesome band (HipShack- voted one of the best wedding bands around by Modern Bride), and fun people….what more could you want??

To see the slidshow, just click here or on the image above.  Enjoy!

I’m a lucky, lucky girl

Last week I was honored to photograph my friend, Chris (chef extraordinaire), as he realized a vision he has had for over two years.  Chris is the sous chef at Madison’s - here in Highlands.  He had in mind to create a six-course meal highlighting the vendors he uses at the restaurant.  The local farmers were allowed access to the kitchen to see Chris and the other staff create the meal using the produce, meat and dairy products they raised over the past months.

It was thrilling seeing the raw, local ingredients become the culinary delights that graced the tables that evening.  I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and how well they all worked together.  Chris would stop, as time allowed, and explain the unfolding events to the farmers.  In turn, during the second seating, Tim and I were honored to sit at the farmer’s table and taste Chris’ wonderful creations.  It was- by far- one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten.  Organic, local, and uber-fresh.  I made many new friends and hope that this concept, farm to table, can find it’s way into more American homes and restaurants.  It was a great night!  Thanks to Chris and his staff for the opportunity to participate in this very special event!

It was cold and wet outside…

But Madison’s was warm and inviting.

Woody and Cary (Barker’s Mill owners) relax out front

It was really a neat experience watching these guys work

Look what the end product was….yum! (Eggs and bacon from Dave Taylor’s farm)

One of the prettiest salads ever… (produce also from Dave Taylor’s farm)

The farmers watched as the meal came together

Some of Chris’ tools

Champagne Braised Trout (from Sunburst Trout Farms)

Farmstead Cheese Sampler (from Sweetgrass Dairy)

The man himself, Chris - looking good in his ‘element’

The entree…a taste of Farmstead Pork (courtesy of Dave Taylor)

Possibly my favorite part of the meal….  :)  The apples were grown locally on the Old Edwards Farm

Some of the guests enjoying the evening

A Charleston Couple

Gray and Michael are a fabulously fun couple to photograph.  I wish I’d had more time with them, but I like the shots we got….especially the ones right as the sun was setting.  I really need to take the time to have some pictures of Tim and I done like this…I would treasure them.
